Position Requirements For Conformal Coating On PCBA Circuit Board

Jul 31, 2021

On the PCBA board, sometimes it is necessary to apply the three-proof paint to achieve the waterproof effect. When applying the three-proof paint, there are some locations that cannot be sprayed. Generally, connectors, switches, radiators, gold fingers, positioning holes, etc. must be shielded before coating.

The following are the areas that cannot be coated:

1. Areas that need electrical connections, such as gold pads, gold fingers, metal through holes, test holes, etc.;

2. Battery and battery holder

3. Connector

4. Fuse and shell

5. Heat sink

6. The lens of the optical device

7. Potentiometer

8. Sensor

9. Unsealed switch

10. Other areas where performance or operation will be affected by the coating.

For example, for inductive components, the electrical properties may be affected after the coating of the three-proof paint, so it must be tested in advance.

Areas that must be coated:

In addition to the above-mentioned areas, all other solder joints, component legs, and component conductor parts should be coated. Generally, the entire board should be coated after the components that must be shielded are protected.
