TT Electronics has announced two connector products for high-speed data on rail and military vehicles, as well as telecommunication and industrial application: SteadiShield connector and OcTrain 10Gb Ethernet contact.
SteadiShield (outside in above photo) is a reverse bayonet connector intended for designs requiring one connector with multiple Ethernet screens.
It has a metalised insert for screen termination within a common ground for improved reliability, 360° screening without additional components and power distribution capabilities.
Five multi-pole contact styles are available: coax, twinax, triax, quadrax, and 10Gbit Ethernet – the latter through OcTrain inserts (centre of above photo).
OcTrain is also compatible with TT’s established ABMP connectors, and is suitable for 22 and 24AWG wire, CAT 6A and CAT 7 cable, and cable jackets from 4mm to 8.1mm.
“These new connection possibilities offer quick disconnect, 500 mated cycles minimum, RoHS and EN45545-2 compliance,” according to TT.
SteadiShield is sealed to IP67, as is OcTrain once it is installed in SteadiShield.
Options include interchangeable contacts, cable assembled versions and customised designs.
Applications are expected in braking systems, track-side cables, signalling cables, driver’s cabin equipment and communications equipment
